Ubique, semper et ab omnibus  |||  Everywhere, always and by all

Welcome

The Bridge is about experiencing authentic Christian community that traverses all Christian denominations and theological traditions. We desire to see a Christian community that is earmarked by being a community of the broken and poor in spirit that relies on Christ to be sufficient for its insufficiencies. We want to be a place where forgiveness is found, encouragement is given, deep relationships are established and practical real-life needs are met.

We believe that the Gospel is made up of so much more than just mere factual propositions but has real-life implications and life-transforming results. We believe in a Gospel and a redemptive plan that is more than an individualistic experience but one that is corporate and cosmic in its implications.

We want to promote the “unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” by urging all confessing believers to unite on the Gospel of Christ that has been passed down and expressed for the last two-thousand years in His Church, “the tradition that has been believed everywhere, always and by all”. The Bridge seeks to re-establish the unity that existed in Christendom before various schisms rent it into its current tri-partite division: Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox and Protestant.

What Happens At The Bridge?

If you come to The Bridge, you can expect a lot of things.

First, authentic community is emphasized. This is accomplished by spending time visiting with each other in a relaxed environment. Food and drink will be served and dynamic conversation and dialogue encouraged.

Second, worship and teaching in accordance with the Church historic is experienced. We want to reintroduce the mystery of faith and God in worship. When we come to God and experience Him we worship Him in spirit and truth. This cannot be reduced to propositional facts and rational explanations but must be experienced through ones soul in union with Christ. We want people to be aware of and inspired by the many great Saints of the Church. We have a passion to teach the Church’s great Creeds that have been faithfully expressed the Deposit of Faith handed down to us by the Apostles. We also desire to celebrate the Church holy days as dictated by the Church calendar.

Third, we want to offer practical help for those in need, either physically, emotionally or spiritually. The Bridge will be a place of healing, restoration and inspiration as we seek to become Christ’s hands and feet to each other.

Our Goals for The Bridge

Our heart passion and goal for The Bridge is to:

  1. Reach people with Jesus Christ in a way that connects genuinely with where they are at.
  2. Experience Jesus Christ individually and corporately in a way that expresses the joy, wonder and awe experienced by the ancient Church.
  3. See the unity of the Church and the advancement of Christ’s kingdom.
  4. See people thrive in life through their union with Christ and His Church.

Why Do We Have The Bridge?

We believe that many Christians do not understand what it truly means to be a Christian. This sounds simplistic but today’s Christian has no mooring with the Church historic and has no conception of true discipleship. Because of these misunderstandings two things have come as a result:

  1. False boundary lines have been drawn concerning the definition of what a Christian is and hence unneeded ecclesial schism and division has been caused.
  2. Confessing Christians are not experiencing victory and joy in their lives. They are not advancing the kingdom of God in their lives.

These tragic results have come about not only through over-reactions to theological error but also through an ignorance of Church history that ignore any Biblical view of a catholic orthodoxy and unity. No small amount of damage to the Church’s ability to advance against the gates of hell has been effected. Families have been affected as well by their being bound unnecessarily to rules, regulations and false traditions that are not required by God’s Word. Many children who have been raised in this context are now disenchanted with Christianity.

The Bridge’s goal is to reverse this tide of schism, division and phariseeism that is affecting so many churches and families across the United States and beyond. We want to accomplish this by being an example of what an authentic Christian community can look like and bring unity centered around the Gospel of Christ and His Church.
